The Department of Translational Medical Sciences (DiSMET), University of Naples Federico II, is pleased to support the organisation of the SENESCENCE2030 International Symposium, which will take place in Naples, Italy, on 8–9 September 2026 at the Hotel Royal Continental. Organised within COST Action SENESCENCE2030, the Symposium also benefits from the support of the Journal of Internal Medicine.
The Symposium will bring together internationally recognised scientists and clinicians to discuss the emerging role of cellular senescence in metabolic disorders and its contribution to the development of complex disease. The scientific programme will cover fundamental, translational and clinical aspects of senescence biology, with particular emphasis on metabolically active tissues, disease heterogeneity, biomarkers, and novel therapeutic strategies.
The scientific programme has been coordinated by Prof. Francesco Beguinot and Dr. Rosa Spinelli (DiSMET, University of Naples Federico II). The meeting will feature a keynote lecture by Prof. James L. Kirkland (Mayo Clinic, USA), invited lectures by leading experts, a round-table discussion, and presentations by selected Young Investigators.
By bringing leading researchers from across Europe, the United States and beyond to Naples, the Symposium reflects DiSMET's commitment to promoting scientific excellence, fostering international collaboration, and advancing research in translational medicine.
The full scientific programme is available on the COST Action SENESCENCE2030 website .
Participants are welcome to join the Symposium either in person or online. Those interested in attending are kindly invited to contact Dr. Rosa Spinelli (rosa.spinelli2@unina.it) for further information.
